Is it Possible to Contract an STI if Both Partners are Virgins?

Many people believe the answer to this question is a definitive “No!” or “It’s impossible!” However, it is indeed possible for a virgin to be a carrier of an STI and to spread it. A virgin is someone who has never engaged in vaginal intercourse. Yet, vaginal intercourse is not the only way STIs can be transmitted.

How Can You Contract an STI?

The most common way to contract an STI is through vaginal or anal intercourse. However, other sexual activities can also spread STIs. Activities such as dry sex, oral sex, and masturbation can transmit STIs.

STIs from Birth

Some people are born with an STI. For example, a person might be born with a form of herpes and can transmit it through oral sex. This can result in an STI in the partner, even though both individuals are virgins.

‘Dry Sex’

Dry sex includes sexual acts other than vaginal or anal intercourse that can spread STIs. There are various types of STIs that only require skin contact to spread. Some forms of herpes and genital warts do not need bodily fluids to infect a person. Although the risk is lower, these STIs can also be contracted during oral sex. Moreover, it is possible to contract these STIs by sharing bath towels, even without any sexual activity.

Other Ways STIs Can Be Spread?

STIs can also be transmitted through blood transfusions or in situations where first aid is given and dirty or infected needles are shared.
