What is Diabetes?
The glucose concentration in the blood is about 70 to 110 mg/dL in healthy people. Hormonal control ensures that this area is not exceeded or lower. Insulin plays the most important role in stabilizing the glucose concentration. In diseases that affect insulin production, this leads to increased glucose concentrations and as a result of metabolic disorders. The most common metabolic disorder is diabetes mellitus, which, if left untreated, can lead to vascular disease – kidney failure (glomerulosclerosis), damage to the retina (retinopathy, blindness) or arterial occlusive disease (heart attacks, stroke). To treat the disease according to medical treatment, early diagnosis of this disease is very important.
What are the consequences of high blood sugar?
In the long term, a high blood sugar damages all blood vessels of the human body. Virus disorders, kidney failure, nerve damage, erectile dysfunction and poor wound healing are the consequences. The risk of a heart attack and stroke in diabetic patients has greatly increased.
How big is my diabetes risk?
The risk of developing diabetes can be increased by genetic factors: are there cases of diabetes in your close relatives (parents, brothers and sisters)? Severe thirst, frequent urination or unexplained weight loss can be symptoms of diabetes, as well as rapid fatigue and blurry vision. Significant overweight and lack of physical activity increase the risk of illness.
This self-test detects the glucose level in your blood and meets the requirements of the 98/79/EC guideline. After clinical research of 150 blood samples, 97% agreed with the results from the laboratory reference method.
