What is relaxin and when do you test?

Relaxin increases during gestation and is usually detectable from about day 21-28 after mating. If you test earlier and the result is negative, repeat the test after 7-10 days. Keep in mind that very early resorptions or singleton gestation can affect values.

How does the test work?

The test measures relaxin in a small blood sample (serum/plasma or whole blood – see package insert). Apply the sample in the provided buffer to the test cassette and read the result after 10-15 minutes. The test requires no laboratory equipment and is quick and easy to perform.
